Water and Wastewater, Finally Funded

• $20 million (estimated) project to twin the Strathroy wastewater plant.
• $9.5 million project to finally fix the broken Mount Brydges wastewater plant.
• Environmental assessment study begun for the expansion of the Mount Brydges plant.
• $15 million in provincial funding secured.
• $3.9 million in federal funding secured.
• Upgrades to the water delivery system.

Public Safety

Backing Our Police and Firefighters

• Continued support of our community-based police force.
• Approved an addition to Police Headquarters.
• Completed construction of Fire Station 1 — an investment in public safety and in the health of our volunteer firefighters.
• Approved keeping the Melbourne fire hall open; the station had been recommended for closing.
• New stoplights and crosswalks.

Economy

Industry That Lightens the Tax Burden

• Opening of the Norbec facility — a $45 million investment that created 70 new jobs.
• Construction under way on the new 45,000 sq ft Burnbrae plant. The municipality fought to retain a 45-year employer.
• Completed an interim servicing agreement with Adelaide Metcalfe.

Roads

Long-Needed Road Work, Done

• Rural roads are being resurfaced through an annual program.
• New sidewalks in our communities, with the annual budget increased.

Customer Service

A Town Hall That Answers

• Opened the front doors of town hall.
• Conducted a customer service survey that showed where we need to improve — and action is being taken.
• Project under way to create a new customer service centre with longer hours, more personalized service and a friendlier environment.

Quality of Life

A Great Place to Live, Work and Play

• New parks in Southgrove and Woodsedge.
• Increased the Parks and Recreation budget so ongoing maintenance gets done.
• Proposed and approved the rehabilitation of 137 Frank Street (the Seniors Centre) for community activities, including for seniors.
• New seniors programming in Mount Brydges.
• Hired a seniors activities coordinator.
